IJA Number: 1399 · Language: Hebrew

This is the second of four volumes of the Hebrew Bible printed in Venice in 1524 by Daniel Bomberg and is the oldest book in the collection. It is known as the Second Great Rabbinic Bible. This text became the standard masoretic text and was the first printed Hebrew Bible with marginal masorah. This volume is incomplete: it only includes the books of Joshua, Judeges, and I and II Samuel (through chapter 5); it is missing I and II Kings. The text includes commentaries by Rashi, David Kimhi (Radak), and Levi ben Gershon (Ralbag), an Aramaic translation of the text, and the Messorah notes.
